Why galvanize
01
Unmatched durability
The strongest bond between zinc and steel.
Galvanized coatings are unmatched in their ability to withstand aggressive handling, due to the strength of the metallurgic bond between the zinc and steel.
02
Low maintenance
Protected for decades — no touch-ups needed.
Galvanized steel requires little to no maintenance over its lifetime. Once coated, your steel is protected for decades — no painting, no touch-ups, no hassle.
03
100% recyclable
A sustainable choice for your project.
Galvanized steel is fully recyclable without any loss of quality. Choosing galvanizing is a sustainable, environmentally responsible choice for your project.
04
Complete coverage
Every surface — inside, outside, and in between.
Hot-dip galvanizing coats every surface — inside, outside, and in recesses that paint can't reach. Complete, long-lasting protection on every inch of your steel.
Quality assurance & sustainability
ASTM A123 & CSA G164
Certified quality
Tagged and tracked from receiving to shipping.
All our galvanized products meet the requirements of ASTM A123 and CSA G164. Every piece of material is tagged and tracked through the entire process. Sharp edges and excess metal are ground to a finish. We perform thorough inspections including visual inspection and electromagnetic induction testing.
Sustainability
100% lead-free plant
Fewer resources. Fewer emissions. Less cost.
We operate a state-of-the-art acid recovery system that allows us to reuse acid in the pickling process and recover waste iron. Any zinc that splashes is swept up and reused. The result: fewer natural resources consumed, fewer emissions, and less cost over the life of your project.

Frequently Asked Questions
+
Galvanizing cost depends on the size, weight, and quantity of your project. Every job is priced individually — contact us or request a quote and we'll get back to you.
Hot-dip galvanized steel can last 50 years or more in most environments with little to no maintenance. The zinc coating bonds metallurgically with the steel, providing long-lasting protection against corrosion, rust, and weather damage.
Your steel is first cleaned through degreasing, pickling in acid, and fluxing to remove impurities. It is then submerged in a bath of molten zinc, which bonds to the steel to form a hard, protective coating. Once cooled, every surface — inside, outside, and in recesses — is fully protected.
For long-term corrosion protection, galvanizing outperforms paint in most industrial and outdoor applications. It requires no maintenance, covers every surface including recesses, and lasts decades. Paint can chip, peel, and requires reapplication. For maximum protection, we offer duplexing — galvanizing combined with powder coating or painting. Contact us to discuss the best solution for your project.
Yes — this is called duplexing, and it's one of our biggest advantages. Because Red River Galvanizing Inc. and Red River Mega Coats operate under the same roof, we can galvanize and then powder coat or paint your steel in a single order. Maximum corrosion protection, one location, no extra hauling. Request a quote to get started.
We handle projects of varying sizes, from small components to large structural steel. For oversized or high-volume projects, we recommend contacting us first so we can confirm capacity and turnaround time before you drop off your material.
